About Dr. Ashford

Clinton Ashford, MD, FACOG, is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.  He earned his M.D. degree and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia. Dr. Ashford maintained a busy OB/GYN practice until 2006, when he shifted his practice to focus exclusively on women’s gynecologic problems, and became a pioneer of innovative procedures and treatments to alleviate problem periods and PMS. Together with his wife, Dr. Rebecca Ashford, he opened the Center for Advanced Gynecologic Surgery in Athens, Georgia and has become one of the leading experts in Advanced Endometrial Ablation in the country.

Dr. Ashford explains: Gynecologic issues can be the most significant health problem a woman faces during her 30s, 40s, or 50s. Although childbearing may be complete, challenges with heavy periods, or their associated symptoms can profoundly interfere with   work managing a household, raising children, and, not least of all, maintaining a healthy, rewarding and functional sexual life. . Women need to feel their best in order to accomplish all they are trying to do. If they are tired, anxious, irritable, or depressed, life is a lot more challenging!  Resolving hormonal imbalances or heavy, painful periods can often make the difference between the joy and satisfaction of a healthy life, or just getting by. Rebecca and I have been able to help thousands of women and at the end of the day, that’s what’s most important to us!

Dr. Ashford now specializes in a procedure called Advanced Endometrial Ablation. He has performed over 4,000 Advanced Endometrial Ablation procedures and is a leading expert in using Advanced Endometrial Ablation to alleviate troublesome symptoms caused by numerous gynecologic problems.
