Helping women feel their very best

Mid-Life Hormonal Imbalance

Around age 40, most women begin having some decrease in the amount of hormone production by the ovaries. This decrease may be gradual and take place over the next 10 to 20 years. During this phase of hormonal decline most women will experience many of the following symptoms:

  • Hot Flashes
  • Night Sweats
  • Fatigue
  • Weight Gain (especially abdominal weight)
  • Difficulty Sleeping
  • Fogginess or Difficulty Coming up with the Right Words
  • Increasing PMS symptoms
  • Low Libido
  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Irregular or too frequent or very heavy periods
  • Vaginal dryness

Sometimes the decline in estrogen produced by the ovaries is relatively swift and many women experience hot flashes and night sweats, as well as heavy or painful periods. Any combination of the symptoms listed above can have a profound impact on a woman’s quality of life. Depending on the severity of symptoms, most women are candidates for Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Drs. Clint and Rebecca Ashford can discuss your own unique symptoms and suggest a treatment plan customized for you.

“I feel wonderful not having a period. Great blessing not having to stress over heavy bleeding for days. My husband loves it, too!”
